Why Snopes should be mandatory

You see, about a hundred years ago when I wrote things that were sometimes quite good, I got a link from a site featuring British blogs.

That was a proper long time ago though, and I'd forgotten all about it until someone visiting these echoing, empty pages was referred by that very same link. Ooh! I though. I'll go and have a look! There was a comments section - I wonder if anyone's said anything new?

Clicky, and scroll down past all that other stuff to the bottom, until you find yourself reading Kim's comment. Kind of makes you fear for the gene pool, doesn't it?

As for me - well, I couldn't just let that little gem pass by, could I?

Enjoy.

I wonder how many people read Kim's comment and wanted to reply but just didn't know how.

Nice to have you back, after your short hiatus.

Good job, there. Stupid Americans are always talking shit - misspelled shit at that.

Sadly, it kind of took some of the wind out of your sails when i noticed that you spelled your own URL incorrectly.

heh. i'm sure no one else noticed...

I admit to being an incredibly Stupid American here, but I am definitely not that stupid. Many of my relatives are however, and I am always getting those emails forwarded from them which discuss all sorts of made up atrocities going on in other countries for them to fear and chide. I love snopes. One of my greatest joys is debunking the emails my relatives send me. Nothing makes me feel more smug. In a good way of course. I'll send them the link to your comment to Kim from now on too.

Good grief. It never fails to surprise me how many bigoted idiots are out there (ie. this Kim person).

You'd think it would stop being a surprise, but somehow I never get it. Triumph of hope over experience, I guess.
