Me, me, me...

I had my first session with my counsellor today.

She is confident that she can mend me. She also told me it was okay for me to hate my mother. Hell, by the end of the session I'm fairly sure she hated my mother.

I think we're going to get along just fine.

Oh, hopefully it will be that easy in all of your sessions.

Must feel good to talk to an unbiased party about this, no? Someone else's perspective is always helpful. Good for you.

Glad it went well and keep eating the spinach.

actually it was utterly terrifying. i did feel a small sense of perverse satisfaction, however, when i elaborated on my family setup and she looked slightly astonished.

i am obviously her first child-of-wife-swap-who-thought-her-siblings-were-her-cousins case. score!

It was the first step on a long road but you've started your journey now and both Small Person and I will be with you all the way.

I don't know how these things work, but presumably having somebody who'll listen to you who doesn't "take sides" is a relief in itself.

Best of luck.

yay surly!
isn't it great to make the therapist trip? its the best validation in the world! 'a specialist in this field is appalled at what went on? it really must have been as bad as i always thought it was!'
you kick ass!

Hey Surly! Once you have covered all of the important stuff, perhaps you could do me the honour of mentioning to Ms Therapist your cow-bag of a friend that moved to Australia and left no forwarding address. Sorry. Miss you. V

P.S Well done you. Therapists terrify me. As do my sons' teachers, policemen in uniform and Studio Floor Managers...I think I may have a teensy weensy "thing" with authority.
